Tantalum is a lustrous, hard, blue-gray transition metal with excellent corrosion and heat resistance. It is normally found in mineral groups, such as coltan (tantalite) and columbite. Columbite has the highest content of Tantalum as compared to any other mineral group. The most common sources of coltan are African countries including Nigeria; Brazil; Burundi; Tanzania; and South Africa among others.
Niobium:
Niobium and its compounds are used in the manufacturing of materials such as tantalum and niobium. Niobium is a chemical element that has no stable isotopes. It is soft, ductile, silvery-white transition metal with a high content of 6+ charge carrier ions.
