An atmospheric furnace is a type of furnace that does not use an external source of heat to produce flame. Instead, the air surrounding the object being heated is used to provide the necessary heat. This type of furnace is often used for objects that are too large or heavy to be moved easily.
Horizontal:
Horizontal is the movement of air or a gas in a particular direction. Horizontal flow is important for natural ventilation and it helps maintain uniform temperature, humidity, and air quality. In an industrial furnace, horizontal flow is achieved by using ducts that direct the exhaust gases from one side to another without any changes in pressure or volume.
Vertical:
Vertical is the part of furnace which is vertical to the horizontal wall of furnace. It has a chimney at its top for exhaust gases. The temperature and pressure in vertical are different from that in horizontal parts due to change in gas flow.
The temperature and pressure inside a furnace depend on four main factors, viz., fuel, air, combustion air (in case of re-heating), and heat transfer fluid (if any).
