A desalination pump is a type of water pump used to move salt water (seawater or brackish water) into and out of a desalination plant. Desalination pumps are an important part of the overall desalination process, as they help to move the salty water through the various stages of treatment.

Centrifugal pumps are used in the desalination process for moving water. The working principle of centrifugal pump is based on the rotation of impeller which transfers the fluid at a high velocity. Positive displacement pumps are used to move liquids in a direction opposite to the flow of water through pipes.
