Tripolite is a mineral, which has the composition of Al2SiO8. It usually occurs in colorless and transparent crystals that are very fragile. The typical specimen measures up to 5 mm across and is translucent with no distinctive cleavage characteristics. Its hardness on Mohs scale is 3 1/2, which makes it softer than diatome ( Mohs 3)and quartz ( Mohs 2 1/2).
Bann clay:
Bann clay is a hydrated silica-aluminum oxide composite. It consists of around 65% to 70% of fine particles and the remaining volume is occupied by a watery solution. Bann clay has high surface area, low density, and large particle size which increases its utility in various industries including food & beverage, paints & coatings, plastics and cosmetics among others.
Application Insights:
Diatomite is used as a filtration material in the pool and spa industry. The product is used to filter out organic compounds such as chlorinated water, suspended particles, bacteria and particulates from the water. It is also utilized in filters such as swimming pools, hot tubs and spas for its filtering properties.
