Product Definition:
Electric arc furnaces (EAF) are industrial furnaces that heat materials by means of an electric arc. The furnace consists of two graphite electrodes in a chamber filled with argon or other inert gas. An electric current is passed through the electrodes, heating them to thousands of degrees Fahrenheit and creating an arc between them. This heats the material in the furnace, which is then poured out as molten metal.
AC-EAF:
The AC-EAF is a type of electric arc furnace used to melt metal scrap in order to produce ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. The process takes place at extremely high temperatures which range between 1,500°C to 3,000°C. These furnaces are majorly used for melting metals such as aluminum & steel along with some other materials like lead, zinc & copper.
DA-EAF:
DA-EAF or Dynamic Air Fueling is a process of mixing air and fuel in the right proportion to obtain efficient combustion. It helps in reducing carbon monoxide (CO) emissions, which are considered as one of the byproducts of fossil fuels used for industrial purposes. The DA-EAF process also eliminates nitrogen oxides (NOx), which are produced during conventional air fueling processes.
Application Insights:
The metal smelting application segment accounted for the largest share of over 50.0% in 2017 and is projected to witness significant growth during the forecast period. The increasing demand for steel from various end-use industries including construction, automotive and transportation, appliances, machinery manufacturing is expected to drive product demand over the next six years.
