The two types of fibers that make up slim type are called as soft and hard, where both have different applications based on their properties.
The basic difference between the two types of fiberglass is their diameter, where a hard fiber has a larger diameter than soft one (as seen in figure 1).
Ultra Slim Type:
Ultra slim type is a new generation of fiberglass that has been developed to meet the demand for high-performance electronic components. It has ultra-low density and ultra-high molecular weight, which results in excellent thermal properties, low dielectric constant and high flexibility. Ultra slim fiberglass offers lower volume resistivity than regular glass fibers making it an ideal material for applications requiring high current carrying capacity such as electric insulations in electrical & electronics industry.
Application Insights:
Electronic information application segment led the global market in 2017 and is projected to continue its dominance over the forecast period. This can be attributed to growing demand for high-speed data transfer services, increasing use of electronic products such as mobile phones and laptops, and rising need for privacy.
