Hollow glass microspheres or colloidal particles, are hollow spheres made from silica with a diameter between 5 and 200 nm. They are used as an additive in high-order explosive mixtures such as hexogen, cyclonite, and pentrite to improve their sensitivity towards heat and flame. These additives also help in increasing the stability of explosives under adverse environmental conditions such as high humidity or extreme temperature.


Resin Microspheres:


Resin microspheres are hollow spheres made from synthetic resin, which is coated with a thin film of explosive material. The coating on the resin sphere allows it to float in an oil-water mixture and thus act as a carrier for the explosive material.
