Ferric Nitrate is a salt of Ferric ion and Nitrate ion. It has the chemical formula Fe(NO3)3. It is an orange-red solid that is soluble in water. It can be used as an oxidizing agent and in the manufacture of explosives.

Laboratory grade ferric nitrate is a colorless and water-soluble solid. It has a slight odor. It's made from nitric acid, sodium thiosulfate, and dextrose anhydrous. The mixture is then crystallized by cooling the solution with ice water or dry ice cold water to obtain fine crystals that are free of any impurities.


Industrial Grade:


Industrial grade is used in the ferric nitrate market as an oxidizing agent. It helps in increasing the density of iron ore and reducing moisture content. Industrial grade has a high demand owing to its ability to reduce water content during processing, which results into a stable product with less risk of rusting and corrosion.


The chemical also acts as a catalyst during the reduction process, which further reduces carbon dioxide along with other impurities present in iron oxide ores.
