A flanged resistance thermometer is a type of device used to measure temperature. It consists of a metal tube that is filled with a fluid, typically mercury, and has two electrical leads coming out of it. The leads are attached to resistors, which create a voltage based on the temperature of the fluid in the tube. This voltage can be measured and used to determine the temperature. Flanged resistance thermometers are important because they provide an accurate way to measure temperature without having to contact or come in close proximity to whatever is being measured.


2 Wire:


2 wire, also known as bipolar thermometer is a type of resistance thermometer. It has two wires; one for positive temperature measurement and other for negative temperature measurement. These thermometers are used in industrial processes to measure the temperature of flammable liquids and gases as they have higher accuracy over their counterparts. They can be battery powered or electrically powered by plugging them into an electrical outlet.


3 Wire:


3 wire flanged RTD's are the most popular type of resistance thermometers used in industrial applications. They have a broad range of temperature measurement, high accuracy and durability and can be easily programmed for different ranges of temperature.


The 3-wire flanged type has two wires (red & black) coming out from the probe body, while third wire (yellow) is connected to an internal connection inside the sensor housing.
