It is a chemical compound of silica and hydrogen fluoride. It has 30%-40% concentration, which is used in water treatment process. Fluosilicic acid can be easily prepared by the reaction between silica and hydrogen fluoride in the presence of calcium hypochlorite or other suitable catalyst at about 120°C to 130°C temperature for 2-3 hours.

The product is used as an acid scavenger in water treatment plants to remove hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, and organic compounds from industrial waste effluents.
