Flux cored welding wire is a type of welding wire that uses a flux core to produce the weld. The flux core contains both the electrode and the shielding gas, which means that it does not require an external shielding gas supply like other types of welding wires do. Gas-shielded welding wire is a type of metal-cored welding wire that has been coated with an inert gas such as argon, helium or carbon dioxide. The primary function of the gas-coated welding wire is to protect the weld pool from hot spots which can cause reignition and also control spatter. A typical GSWW consists of a core made up of high strength steel wires wrapped in an outer layer made up by using lower alloyed steel or aluminum.


Self-shielded:


Self-shielded welding wire is a type of electric arc welding equipment that uses a metal shield to protect the weld pool from oxidation and contamination. The product is used in various applications such as shipbuilding, offshore exploration, oil & gas pipelines fabrication and maintenance operations among others. It also finds application in heavy plate fabrication for steel structures on account of its ability to provide high heat input with low smoke and spatter.
