Product Definition:


Furan No-bake Resin is a thermoset resin that can be used for coating and laminating applications. It is important because it provides good toughness, heat resistance, and chemical resistance.


General Grade:


General grade furan no-bake resin is a thermoplastic elastomer, which has high demand in the automotive industry. It can be used as an alternative to polyurethane foams and other thermosets.

Other:


Other is a chemical compound that has multiple names such as furfuryl alcohol, tetrahydrofuran, and thioalcohol. Other also known as OTH or THF is an organic compound used in the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals and personal care products. It’s also used in the production of polyurethane foams which are further utilized for making carpet underlayments, foam insulation materials for roofs & walls etc.


Application Insights:

Furan no-bake resins are widely used in molding and casting applications as they offer high heat resistance, chemical stability, low water absorption and a glass transition temperature suitable for manufacturing complex shapes.


The product is gaining popularity as an alternative to other thermoset polymers such as epoxy or polyurethane due to its superior characteristics. These include higher heat resistance (200°C), better mechanical strength (50MPa) at lower temperatures than other thermosets, excellent chemical stability & UV light protection which makes it ideal for exterior coatings on boats or yachts that are exposed to sunlight frequently.
