Gas turbine flow meters are devices used to measure the rate of gas flow in a pipeline. They are often used in conjunction with other types of flow meters, such as an orifice plate, to improve accuracy. Gas turbine flow meters are important for measuring the amount of gas being transported through a pipeline, as well as for monitoring and regulating the pressure and/or volume of gas being delivered.
Axial Type:
Axial type flow meter is a device used to measure the rate of fluid movement in pipes or tubes. It consists of an impeller, which is driven by a motor and it measures the velocity of the fluid by counting revolutions of its impeller. The main function performed by axial flow meters is to measure accurately and continuously the volume or capacity flowing through a channel at any given time.
Tangential Type:
The tangential type flow meter is used to measure the volumetric flow rate of a gas or liquid. It consists of two concentric tubes, one inside the other. The outer tube is filled with a known volume of fluid and as the fluid flows through it, its level changes accordingly. These meters are mainly used for measuring liquids such as gases and steam in power plants and petrochemical refineries respectively where there are no restrictions on vertical height of fluids being measured.
