Geomembranes are the layers of waterproofing material that are placed over a layer of soil or rock to prevent seepage water and other liquids from moving through the ground into an aquifer. Geomembranes can be used in conjunction with geotextiles for erosion control, groundwater recharge, and filtration systems. They can also be used alone as permeable liners for ponds, lakes or reservoirs.
