A glasshouse is a building in which plants are grown. It is made of transparent or translucent material such as glass, plastic or polythene.
Hoop House:
Hoop house is a building made of interlinked hollow metal cylinders. It has circular or oval shape and is used to grow plants in. The basic design consists of four interconnected rings with the outer diameter between 0.9 to 1.2 m, which are filled with soil or alternative growing medium such as coconut coir, peat, rock wool etc., and then covered with plastic sheeting for protection from extreme weather conditions; this forms the basic structure of a hoop house.
Dome House:
The domes in the glasshouse market are used for growing plants, vegetables and fruits. The domes have a layer of rock dust or soil which helps in maintaining uniform temperature and humidity levels inside the greenhouse.
The structure consists of a series of rings made up from transparent plastic material or glass which is filled with soil or rockwool to provide support to the roof structure. The rings make up different shapes and sizes depending on the size of greenhouse desired for growing purposes.
