Purity 48% is a colorless liquid used in the production of 1-benzyl pyridinium-3-carboxylate. It is an organic intermediate used for manufacturing pharmaceuticals and agrochemical products. Purity 48% is manufactured by the reaction between carboxylic acid and pyridine base in presence of calcium carbonate as a catalyst at 80°C for 4 hours.
