12-Hydroxystearic acid(CAS: 5471-09-8) is a colorless or white crystalline solid with a slightly unpleasant odor. It is soluble in organic solvents but insoluble in water. 12-Hydroxystearic acid is used as an intermediate in the manufacture of surfactants, lubricants, and other specialty chemicals.

Flake is a white crystalline solid and is soluble in ether, alcohol, water and hot & cold hydrocarbons. It's formed by the reaction of stearic acid with palmitic acid or oleic acid.
