2-Furoic acid is a carboxylic acid with the formula CH2=CHCOOH. It is a colorless solid that is soluble in water and ethanol. 2-Furoic acid is used as a flavoring agent, an intermediate in the production of other chemicals, and as an herbicide.


2-Furoic Acid 98%:


2-Furoic acid 98% is a white crystalline compound, which is soluble in water and ethanol. It has a slight odor. The product can be manufactured by two different methods: the direct hydration of 2-furyl alcohol or by hydrogenation of 2-furyl alcohol to produce fumaric acid, which then undergoes hydrolysis to form 2-furoic acid.


2-Furoic Acid 97%:


2-Furoic acid 97% is a white crystalline solid and has a molecular weight of 308.8. It is produced by the catalytic oxidation of 2-furyl alcohol with sodium hypochlorite solution in presence of calcium formate as an intermediate. The product finds application as an intermediate for organic chemicals, precursor to polyurethanes and plasticizers, and in pharmaceuticals industry for the synthesis of vitamin C (as retinol).
