4,4'-Dichlorodiphenyl sulfone (abbreviated DCDPS) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C12H8Cl2O2S. It is a white solid that is soluble in organic solvents. DCDPS is used as a sulfur donor in the vulcanization of rubber and as a crosslinking agent for epoxy resins.
Industrial Grade:
Industrial grade is a special type of plastic that has been used in the production of various chemicals and related products. It is also being considered as an alternative to other conventional materials such as PE, PP, PVC & HDPE. The growth factor for industrial grade is high compared to other types which can be attributed to its unique properties such as resistance towards solvents, acids & bases and high tensile strength among others.
Pharma Grade:
It is a colorless liquid with a mild pleasant odor. It is insoluble in water and has a slight aromatic smell. DCDPS can be formulated by the addition of 4,4’-dichlorodiphenyl sulfone to any organic compound (e.g., alcohol) at an appropriate time and in an adequate amount for its production process as well as for commercial usage.
Application Insights:
Polysulfone resins were the largest application segment and accounted for over 40% of global market in 2016. The product is used as a cross-linker in polysulfone resins, which are primarily used in electrical & electronics industries. PEEK exhibits properties such as high strength and excellent resistance to chemicals, heat and solvents which makes it a preferred material for manufacturing medical devices & instruments.
The DCDD based medicines have been found to be effective against several types of cancer including liver cancer, breast cancer and lung cancer among others.
