It is produced by the reaction between water and carbon dioxide, or in other words, it is derived from the natural gases such as carbon monoxide and hydrogen. Oxygen also has several industrial uses; for instance, it can be used to produce steel or as a reactant along with chlorine to make polyoxyethylene (POPE).
