Market Overview:

The global aircraft fuel cap market is estimated to be valued at US$ XX Mn in 2018 and is projected to reach US$ XX Mn by 2030, exhibiting a CAGR of X.X% during the forecast period. The growth of the market can be attributed to the increasing demand for commercial aircrafts across the globe. Additionally, factors such as rising air passenger traffic and increase in number of airline passengers are expected to boost the demand for aircraft fuel caps over the forecast period. On basis of type, OEMs segment is anticipated to account for a major share in terms of revenue in 2018 and is projected register highest CAGR over next 10 years owing high adoption rate among original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Aftermarket segment is also expected witness significant growth during forecast period on account of increasing replacement needs across different regions. On basis application, propeller aircraft segment dominated global market with highest revenue share contribution followed by jet aircraft and rotorcraft segments respectively in 2018. However, jet Aircraft segment is anticipated exhibit highest CAGR over next 10 years owing growing demand from airlines operators for advanced features enabled fuel caps products. Regionally, North America accounted largest revenue share followed by Europe and Asia Pacific region respectively in 2017 .

Global Aircraft Fuel Cap Industry Outlook

Product Definition:

Aircraft fuel caps are important because they keep the aircraft's fuel from spilling out. They also keep debris and other objects from getting into the fuel.

OEMs:

OEMs are the original equipment manufacturers. They are the companies that design and produce the aircraft parts such as engines, avionics systems, body parts and other components. OEMs have a two-way contract with airlines wherein they supply them with aircraft parts along with services such as training on their end and technical support on the airline’s end. The OEM is responsible for designing an airplane part or system which includes its electrical & mechanical functions along with its software compatibility.

Aftermarket:

Aftermarket is the second largest part of any product or service. It means after the production of the product or service it gets consumed in some other activity. In case of aircraft fuel cap, aftermarket consists of filling and capping activities done for empty aviation fuel cans. These caps are used to prevent vapor explosion hazards in tanks when it is not in use for transportation purposes.

There are two types of caps which include non-propylene.

Application Insights:

The propeller aircraft application segment accounted for the largest revenue share of over 40% in 2017. The segment is projected to witness significant growth over the forecast period owing to rising demand for short-haul regional airliners and business aviation. Furthermore, increasing penetration of low-cost carriers is expected to drive the demand further.

The jet aircraft application segment was valued at USD 1,227.1 million in 2017 and is expected to witness a CAGR of XX% from 2018 to 2030 attributed towards growing passenger traffic on medium and long haul flights across various regions including Asia Pacific, North America and Europe Latin America etc. In addition, favorable government policies such as tax incentives offered on installing new technologies that improve fuel efficiency are likely to augment market growth over the coming years as well.

Regional Analysis:

Asia Pacific is expected to be the fastest-growing region, owing to rapid growth in commercial aviation across emerging economies such as China and India. The demand for new aircraft is increasing significantly, which will drive the regional market further. In addition, rising disposable income of consumers and expansion of middle-class population groups are likely to boost product demand across this region over the forecast period.

The European market accounted for a significant share in 2017 owing to high production standards set by OEMs coupled with stringent government regulations regarding environmental protection during aircraft manufacturing processes. Europe also has one of the largest markets for replacement parts on account of extensive use in marine vessels as well as trainsets manufactured by Siemens AG & Co., Alstom SA and Bombardier Inc., among others. These factors are anticipated to augment product demand over the forecast period within this region.

Growth Factors:

  • Increasing demand for air travel: The number of passengers travelling by air is increasing every year. This is due to the growth in the economy and the rise in disposable income of people.
  • Expansion of airline fleet: Airlines are expanding their fleet to cater to the increasing demand for air travel. This will lead to an increase in the demand for aircraft fuel caps.
  • Stringent environmental regulations: Governments are implementing stringent environmental regulations, which require airlines to reduce emissions from their aircrafts. This will lead to an increase in demand for aircraft fuel caps that help reduce emissions from aircrafts.
