An aircraft master cylinder is a hydraulic component of an aircraft brake system. It performs the same function as a car's brake master cylinder, converting fluid pressure into braking force. The importance of aircraft master cylinders is that they provide consistent braking pressure regardless of the condition of the rest of the brake system. This helps to ensure safe and effective operation during landing and takeoff.


Push-type:


A push-type master cylinder is a device used in aircraft to control the brakes on all the wheels by means of one controlling handle. The basic function of this device is to feed brake fluid from its reservoir to all the system’s brake valves for releasing brakes on any wheel. It does not have any other special functions like bleeding or vacuum systems, and it's simpler than Vacuum System Master Cylinder (VSC).


Pull-type:


The pull-type is a valve mechanism that consists of a handle, which is connected to the diaphragm by means of an arm. The movement of the handle causes it to exert pressure on the diaphragm, thereby controlling and opening/closing the valve. In most cases, there are two types of valves used in aircraft master cylinders namely push-type and pull-type valves.
