An aluminum conductor steel reinforced (ACSR) cable is a type of electrical cable that uses an aluminum conductor to carry electric current, with the addition of steel wires running parallel to the conductor for reinforcement. ACSR cables are often used as power transmission lines because they have a high strength-to-weight ratio and are less expensive than copper cables.

ASCR is an aluminum alloyed with steel and other metals as per requirement. The optimum composition of the alloy can vary according to application. For example, in power cables, the optimum composition would be around 50% aluminum and Steel (SBR) or 75% Aluminum-25% steel.
ACSR/AW:
ACSR/AW is an alloy of aluminum and steel which is used in ACSR cable. It has a composition of around 60% to 70% by weight of aluminum and steel. The remaining volume consists of plasticizers, stabilizers, antioxidants, fillers and other materials which are used for processing the raw material mixture at high temperatures.
