Metallurgical metamorphism is a heat treatment process used to change the physical and chemical properties of base metal alloys. It involves heating the base metals at temperatures higher than their melting point in an attempt to achieve better functional and mechanical properties. The most common application of metallurgical metamorphism is in transforming aluminum into high strength steel with excellent wear resistance, high yield strength, improved formability, low density & specific weight, increased ductility & toughness and reduced machinability.
