Product Definition:
A white, crystalline, water-soluble compound consisting of ammonia and sulfur dioxide. It is used as a fungicide and in the manufacture of other chemicals.

Liquid is a colorless and highly inflammable compound of sulfur. It's formed in many ways like any other mineral or element. However, it's produced as a by-product during the manufacturing process of many products such as matches, rubber tires, fertilizers and pesticides among others. Liquid is also found naturally in volcanic eruptions & geysers owing to which it has gained the name “volatile” or “flammable” liquid.
Gas:
Ammonium sulfide (AS) is a chemical compound with formula (NH4)2S. It is a white crystalline solid and has a characteristic pungent smell. It readily reacts with water, acids, and bases to form soluble salts and insoluble compounds. The product finds application as an industrial solvent for removing oil stains from concrete floors, in the production of fertilizers, as an additive in brake fluids for automobiles, etc.
Application Insights:
The textile industry was the largest application segment in 2016, accounting for over 50% of the overall demand. The product is used as a processing aid for cellulosic fibers to improve their rheology and reduce shrinkage during production. Ammonium sulfide as a processing aid also improves fiber formation and retention properties of cellulose-based fibers, thereby enhancing their quality.
Ammonium sulfide is widely used in various industries including paper manufacturing, textiles and copper to enhance productivity owing to its superior performance characteristics such as high reactivity with metals (copper), sulfur (inorganic) or hydrogen (organic). In addition, it has excellent anti-corrosion properties which make it suitable for industrial applications where water or other liquids are present in large quantities on account of its gas solubility property.
