Amyl acetate is a natural organic compound derived from amylose, a type of starch that is found in plants. It has an odor similar to nail polish remover and causes nausea and vomiting when used in high concentrations. Amyl acetate also displays insecticidal properties which make it useful for manufacturing pesticides.


Synthetic:


Synthetic Amyl Acetate (AA) is a colorless liquid with an odor similar to nail polish remover. It is also used as a flavor and fragrance additive in various products such as baked goods, fast food restaurant meals, processed meat, cheese, ice cream toppings and other dairy products. Synthetic AA has been manufactured by several methods but the most common one used commercially is the catalytic hydrogenation of acetone under high pressure and temperature conditions.
