Copper-based antifouling yacht coatings are used to prevent the growth of marine organisms on any surface of a ship or boat. These copper based antifouling yacht coatings are available in water-soluble as well as oil-soluble forms. Copper based antifouling yacht coatings have been found effective against various types of fouling including mussels, barnacles, and tube worms among others.


Biocides:


Biocides are used in the antifouling yacht coatings market to kill or remove the fouling such as mussels, barnacles and other marine organisms that adhere to a substrate and grow in numbers, thereby reducing its visibility. Biocides also prevent new fouling from occurring on a vessel. The most commonly used biocide is sodium hypochlorite which is an aqueous solution of 4% to 6% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCI).
