It is an alternative to the conventional electrosurgical wands and helps in reducing patient injury due to less voltage usage during surgery. The monopolar wand has two metal electrodes connected by an insulated wire which comes out of the body, it creates a magnetic field around it that allows surgeons to see and operate inside the joint space with great ease.
