Product Definition:
An artificial pancreas system (APS) is a device that mimics the functions of the pancreas in people with diabetes. The APS consists of two parts: a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and an insulin pump. The CGM monitors blood sugar levels and sends information to the insulin pump, which then calculates how much insulin to deliver to keep blood sugar levels within target range. Control to Range (CTR) System:
Control to range (CTR) system is a technology that helps in maintaining the blood glucose level in an individual. It works by measuring the amount of insulin delivered by an artificial pancreas. The Control to range system uses a sensor and some algorithms which are connected to an insulin pump or a manual infusion set. This device has been approved for use with BGM systems, but it can also be used with other devices such as home dialysis equipment and hospital machines.
Control to Target (CTT) System:
Control to Target (CTT) is a system used in artificial pancreas systems. It helps to adjust the amount of insulin delivered by an implanted device according to the blood sugar level. The CTT system consists of two components, namely, a control unit and a sensor unit which are both connected by wireless communication.
The major functions performed by this system include data processing and analysis, as well as controlling the delivery of insulin according to glucose levels measured from sensor readings.
