Corticosteroids are the group of drugs whose main function is to reduce inflammation by decreasing the production of cytokines. Corticosteroid treatment helps to control many neurological problems such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and brain damage due to stroke. Corticosteroids are also used in some cases of asthma and other respiratory diseases.
Immunosuppressive Agents:
Immunosuppressive agents are the drugs that decrease or suppress the immune response. Immunosuppressive agents are used in Behcet's disease to reduce inflammation of the eye, face, and skin. Some of these immunosuppressants include cyclophosphamide, mycophenolate mofetil (MPMF), methotrexate (MTX), corticosteroids, and azathioprine.
