Sequential stretching is a type of thermal processing used to increase the dimensional stability and tensile strength of polyamide films. Sequential stretching can be differentiated from parallel or single-stage stretching as it involves more than one stretch cycle. The number of cycles depends on the properties that are being improved, for example, if toughness is required then 3 or 6 cycles would be preferred whereas if dimensional stability was needed then 2 or 4 cycles would be preferred.
Mechanical Simultaneous Stretching Type:
Mechanical simultaneous stretching type is also known as the baker's dozen. It was invented by a British Chemist, named Robert Bringhurst in his laboratory at University College London (UCL) in 1960. The process of mechanical simultaneous stretching is carried out with the help of 13 layers of biaxially oriented nylon film and one or two rollers.
