3N, also known as boron nitride orBN, is a chemical compound of boron and nitrogen. It has hexagonal crystalline structure like many other compounds containing nitrogen such as amboric acid or ammonium nitrate. 3N has lower melting point than ice (4° Borax) and decomposes at -30°C.


4N:


4N is the fourth power of nitrogen, which means that 4N means a pressure of approximately 14.5 kilobars (mb) and temperature range from -45°C to +25°C. It is used in boron carbide powder industry as a processing aid during manufacturing process and also helps in maintaining the quality of final product.


In 4N nitrogen gas plays an important role while manufacturing boron carbide, which consists of nickel.
