C-C chemokine receptor type 4 (CCR4) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CCR4 gene. The CCR4 protein belongs to the G protein-coupled receptor family. It binds CC chemokines, which are small cytokines that play important roles in the immune system.

CCX-6239 is a novel oral, small molecule inhibitor of CCL5 chemokine receptor type 6 (CCR6). It is being studied for the treatment of multiple myeloma and lymphoma. The drug has shown promising safety and efficacy results in Phase II clinical trials.

E-0001163 is a selective CCR4 ligand. It was identified in 2002 and has been used as an experimental drug since 2003. E-0001163 has shown efficacy in patients with chronic hepatitis C who have developed resistance to interferon treatment. The drug failed the clinical trial for HIV/AIDS, but it showed positive results for treating HCV infection which is a major problem worldwide.
