Gas calcined anthracite is a type of coal that has been heated in the absence of air. It is also known as carbon-rich bituminous coal or gas-fired bituminous (GFRB) owing to its high proportion of hydrogen and carbon content. GFRB has low moisture, sulfur, and ash content which makes it suitable for use in power plants for generating electricity.


Application Insights:


The steel industry was the largest application segment in 2016, accounting for over 70% of the total revenue share. The product is used as a fuel in blast furnace and basic oxygen furnaces to produce pig iron. Pig iron is further processed to make steel through direct reduction method or indirect methods such as electric arc furnace and hot air balloon furnace.
