Product Definition:
A carbon anode is a material used in an electrolytic cell to oxidize a species. The oxidation reaction releases electrons which are then collected at the cathode to produce electrical current. Carbon is often used as the anode material because it has a high specific surface area and can withstand high temperatures without corroding.
Natural Graphite:
Natural graphite is the softest and most abundant form of carbon. It has a structure similar to that of conventional graphite, but with three main differences. First, natural graphite does not have any significant structural defects like stacking faults or twinning. Second, natural graphite occurs in much larger flakes than conventional type (natural type can be up to 3 times longer and wider than its conventional counterpart).
Artificial Graphite:
Artificial graphite is a type of carbon with the chemical formula (C x H y )x+y, where x and y are positive or negative whole numbers. It has properties similar to natural graphite. The production process involves high-temperature vacuum evaporation of hydrocarbons from crude oil, which is then treated under pressure to remove water vapor and other impurities.
