Product Definition:


A carbon black is a fine, sooty black powder consisting of nearly pure carbon. It is used as a reinforcing agent in rubber and other polymer products.


Thermal Black:


Thermal black is a by-product obtained during the carbonization of organic compounds. It is also known as tire black or rubber tires, and it has been used for making tires more resistant to heat and thus provide better traction. The product finds application in several end-use industries such as electrical & electronics, automotive, construction, oil & gas exploration services among others.


Furnace Black:


Furnace black is a carbon-rich solid residue obtained as a byproduct in the smelting of iron and steel. It has high demand in the rubber industry as it helps to improve the strength and resilience of natural rubber (NR). Furnace black increases tensile strength, heat resistance, abrasion resistance, tear resistance and flexural modulus of NR.


Application Insights:


The tire rubber application segment accounted for the largest revenue share of over 70% in 2017. Tire manufacturers are increasingly using carbon blacks to improve overall vehicle performance and reduce rolling resistance, which is likely to have a positive impact on industry growth. In addition, increasing use of tire rubber in manufacturing summer tires and all-terrain tires is expected to drive demand over the forecast period.


Other rubber products include industrial rubber goods, footwear soles and tubes, automotive parts (such as bushings), medical devices & equipment (such as orthopedic implants) and sporting goods (such as golf balls).
