Single-walled Nanotubes(SWNTs):
Single-walled nanotubes (SWNTs) are narrow, single-stranded carbon fibers that are highly flexible and have high aspect ratio. They possess superior mechanical properties such as tensile strength, flexural modulus and density. Single walled nanotubes can be used in a variety of applications including fuel cells, electronic textiles & packaging materials owing to their excellent electrical conductivity and thermal resistance.
Double-walled Nanotubes:
Double-walled nanotubes are carbon nanotubes with two layers of shell, one inner and one outer. The structure provides a barrier to water vapor and other aqueous solutions that are external to the tube. This increases the CNT’s utility in applications where water vapor is expected to be a problem such as in heat transfer devices or fuel cells.
