A chip shield is a thin piece of metal or plastic that is placed over the integrated circuit (IC) on a printed circuit board (PCB). The chip shield helps to protect the IC from damage due to electrostatic discharge (ESD) and heat. It also helps to keep the IC cool by providing airflow over it.


Transparent:


Transparent is a new technology that has been around for about two years. Transparent is also known as see-through technology or transparent electronics and uses a special kind of glass to transmit light through an object without any interference.


Translucent:


Translucent is a type of plastic that allows light to pass through but prevents the passage of other particles. It has applications in electronics, optical devices, and electrical connectors. Translucent plastics are used for manufacturing chip shields as they protect the components on a circuit board from Electrostatic Dissipation (ESD) and Electromagnetic Interference (EMI).
