Product Definition:


A continuous flow apheresis device is a medical device that is used to separate blood cells from plasma. The device uses a centrifuge to spin the blood cells and plasma apart. The separated blood cells are then returned to the patient, and the plasma is collected in a bag for later use.


Plasma Separators:


Plasma separators are used in continuous flow apheresis devices to remove blood components. Plasma separation is a process of removing the cellular elements from whole blood by using a plasma expulsor and a plasma separator. The two major types of products obtained after this process are termed as fresh frozen plasma (FFP) and dried, concentrated, ready-to-use (DCFP) hemophilia products.


Plasma Component Separators:


Plasma component separators are used in continuous flow apheresis devices for the separation of blood into RBC, WBC, platelets and plasma. Continuous Flow Apheresis (CFA) is a process where there is separation of components in blood by their density. Plasma being the denser fluid separates from other fluids during CFA procedure.
