A digital contact image sensor (DCIS) is a device used to create an image of the surface of a contact lens. The device consists of an array of pixels arranged in a grid, with each pixel corresponding to a point on the surface of the lens. The output from each photodetector is digitized and stored in memory, allowing for reconstruction of an image from multiple readings.

300 dpi is the resolution of a digital image and it's equivalent in meters per pixel. It can be defined as twice the highest printable resolution which is usually 600 dpi. 300dpi equates to 1200 pixels per inch which gives high quality images with less error.
