Diisononyl phthalate (DINP) is a colorless, odorless, oily liquid. It is soluble in most organic solvents but insoluble in water. DINP is used as a plasticizer for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and other plastics.

DINP is a chemical, which is produced as an industrial by-product during the production of vinyl chloride monomer. DINP has 99% purity and it's a clear colorless liquid with pungent odor. It can cause severe eye damage upon direct exposure and prolonged skin contact (more than 10 minutes). Prolonged inhalation exposure to DINP may result in respiratory tract irritation or inflammation.


DINP ≥99.5%:


DINP is a chemical, which is also known as Di-isononyl phthalate. It has a molecular weight of 200.8 and an ionic strength of 9%. The chemical formula for DINP is (C16H22N2)2. It's appearance like a white solid and has an odor similar to that of nail polish remover.

The plasticizer application segment led the global market in 2017. The demand for diisononylphthalate is majorly driven by its usage as a plasticizer in PVC and polystyrene (PS) resins, which are used to produce flexible packaging films, durable bottles and containers, electrical wires & cables, footwear soles/heels and textiles.


DINP is also used as an extrusions forming agent where it acts as a release agent for the molten metal or glass fiber during formation of composite materials such as wire cable insulation or profiles.
