Product Definition:


Nonwoven fabrics are made by bonding or interlocking fibers without the use of water or other binding agents. The dry-laid process is the most common method of producing nonwovens. In this process, fiber strands are randomly dispersed on a screen and then compressed to form a sheet. The sheet is then heated to permanently fuse the fibers together.


Natural Fiber:


Natural fibers are obtained from the stalks and seeds of plants. The three major types of natural fibers include cellulose, lyocell, and hemp. Cellulose is derived from sources such as wood pulp, bamboo pulp, grasses (such as ryegrass), kenaf; while lyocell is produced by the processing of wood or other plant materials with acid.


Synthetic Fiber:


Synthetic fibers are man-made materials that have a similar molecular structure to natural fibers. The most common synthetic fiber is polyester, which was developed from the chemical synthesis of adipic acid and nylon 6 were also derived from chemical synthesis. Synthetic fibers are used in various end-use industries such as textiles, medical & healthcare, automotive industry and packaging industry owing to their properties such as high strength, abrasion resistance and easy washable characteristics among others.


Application Insights:


The others segment includes protective clothing, automotive interiors and exteriors, industrial applications, medical textiles, and hospitality. The home textile application segment is expected to witness the fastest growth over the forecast period owing to rising demand for dry-laid nonwovens from various end-use industries including construction materials and geotextiles.
