The Groove Commutator is a device used to change the direction of an electric current. It consists of two metal surfaces, usually aluminum or copper, that are pressed together by a plastic insulating layer. The electrical connections are made between one end of the commutator and the other end of the magnet in between using brushes. As electricity flows through this channel it creates a magnetic field which causes rotation and can be harnessed for various applications like driving electric motors or rotating turbines etc.
Hook Type Commutator:
The hook type commutator is a device used in electric commutators to connect the brushes of an electric motor. It is also known as a spur gear, because of its resemblance to the letter “S” when viewed from above. The main function of this device is to ensure that one side of the current does not try to pull away from the other side while rotating; it helps in maintaining uniformity and balance in speed throughout its rotation cycle.
