Contact type starter uses physical connection between the switch and magnet, whereas non-contact type starter does not use any physical connection between the switch.

This device works on the simple principle of electromagnetic attraction and repulsion, where magnets are used as prime movers. These devices are mostly used in automotive applications such as electronic motor starters or manual transmission electric motors, but they can also be used in other sectors like marine industry or power generation sector too.
