Expanded polystyrene (EPS) is a rigid, lightweight and moisture-resistant insulation made from small beads of polystyrene. EPS Geofoams are an engineered structural foam used in many civil engineering applications such as slope stabilization, ground improvement, foundation support and retaining walls. EPS Geofoams have excellent compressive strength and durability which makes them ideal for use in aggressive environments.


Softness:


Geofoams are granular materials, which are made from a variety of natural and synthetic geotextiles. Geofoams have high permeability and can be used to provide protection against soil erosion, prevent the migration of chemicals in concrete structures or fillers into the surrounding environment.


Hardness:


Hardness is a relative measure of the resistance of soil or concrete to erosion by water. The harder the material is, the more resistant it is to being moved or eroded by water. The measurement units for hardness are generally stones (shore), which can be used as a standard for comparing different types of soils; and specific points on soil grains where they are least permeable, called grain boundaries.


Application Insights:
