Product Definition:


An Ethernet switch is a networking device that connects devices together on a local area network (LAN). Switches allow devices to communicate with each other by transmitting data packets between them. When a device sends a packet, the switch determines the best path for the packet to travel to its destination. This process is known as routing.


Ethernet switches are important components of LANs because they manage traffic and improve network performance. A VLAN allows administrators to group devices together and restrict their communication with other devices on the network.


Fixed Managed:


Fixed-Managed Ethernet switches are a group of high-performance, fixed configuration network devices that forward frames between ports in a switch chassis. These devices have no configurable options and are not supported with vendor-specific features. The term is used to differentiate these products from programmable ones as they have fixed configurations for all ports.


These switches were initially developed for use in Data Center Interconnect (DCI) applications where the need for high performance.


Fixed Unmanaged:


Fixed Unmanaged is a software-based technology that provides network administrators with the tools required to monitor and manage devices in enterprise networks. It simplifies network administration by eliminating the need for users to actively configure or operate device features. The technology includes an application program interface (API) that allows automation of tasks such as configuration, monitoring, and management of devices through a user-friendly graphical user interface.
