The technology is also known as 100base-T, which uses half-duplex communication mode to send both data and control signals simultaneously on single cable; it provides an economical way of connecting devices at distances up to 1,000 meters using inexpensive category 5 or better UTP cabling.

10/100Base-T is a standard Ethernet cable that has been developed to meet the needs of commercial buildings and network administrators for data transmission. It can support up to 100 devices at 10 Mbps over a single pair of wires ( copper wire). The maximum distance between two nodes can be up to 30 meters. This makes it an ideal solution for short-distance networks, especially in office settings where distances are limited and fast Ethernet connections are required.
