Solid:


Ethylene Carbonate is also known as 2- ethylhexane carbonate or 2-EC for short. It is a chemical compound and an industrial solvent. It has a strong odor similar to that of gasoline and it's taste is slightly sweet. Ethylene carbonate can be found in nature in the form of fruits such as mangoes, guava, cashew fruit, pineapple etc.


Liquid:


Liquid is a colorless and highly flammable organic compound, which is also known as propylene glycol. It has a similar structure to that of water, but with much higher boiling points ranging from 120 to 135 degree Celsius. The liquid can be produced by the chemical synthesis or through fractional distillation. It is mainly used in the production of ethylene carbonate (EC), which finds application in fibers, resins, polyester coatings and plastics industries among others.
