Halotron Extinguishing Agents are organic compounds that function by combining with flammable liquids to form an inorganic compound, which is insoluble and non-combustible. Halotron agents are used for the purpose of fire extinguishing or fire prevention. The halotrons can be differentiated from other conventional fire extinguishing agents on account of their high thermal stability and low toxicity.
Foam Extinguishing Agents:
Foam extinguishing agents are used to reduce the rate of fire and/or the intensity of combustion in fire-fighting situations. Foam extinguishing agents work by smothering or overwhelming the fuel with a large amount of water, which reduces its ability to burn. The most commonly used foam extinguishing agent is water; however, there are other foams that can be used as well such as dry chemical powder, wet chemicals (conductive polymers), and ice among others.
