Product Definition:
Extra virgin camellia oil is a light, non-greasy oil that is extracted from the seeds of the Camellia sinensis plant. The oil is high in antioxidants and has a variety of therapeutic benefits, including anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties. It can be used as a moisturizer for skin and hair, or as a cooking oil.
Expelling:
Expelling is a natural process that helps in the Camellia Oil extraction. It removes impurities and other particles from the oil during its refining process. The main function of expelling is to remove unwanted particles, such as particulates, proteins, and lipids (fats), which may cause irritation to human skin or eyes. Expelling also has an important role in removing any harmful contaminants that may be present in extra virgin camellia oil during its production phase.
Lixiviation Process:
Lixiviation is a process in which the plant tissues are exposed to air, thus allowing the free flow of plant juices. This procedure helps in increasing the solubility of essential oils and allows their easy absorption by the human body. The lixiviant can be made from almost all parts of a plant except for roots, bark, and seeds.
Application Insights:
Food application was the largest segment in 2017 and is projected to witness significant growth over the forecast period. The product has high demand from food processing industry owing to its properties, such as antioxidant content, which helps prevent the development of free radicals and reactive oxygen species. These antioxidants also help reduce cholesterol levels in human body.
The cosmetics segment is expected to register a CAGR of XX% from 2018 to 2030 on account of high-quality ingredients that offer anti-aging properties along with skin softening benefits for consumers globally. Extra virgin olive oil can be used as an alternative ingredient for cosmetic manufacturers due to its better texture when compared with other vegetable oils available in market.
Other applications include biodiesel production and consumption within bakery products like cookies, crackers, pastries & pies crusts that contain EVCO.
Regional Analysis:
Asia Pacific was the largest market in 2016 and is expected to continue its dominance over the forecast period. The region has a high demand for EVCO as China, India, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan are among the top consumers of camellia oil in the world. Asia Pacific is also likely to be one of the fastest-growing regional markets at an estimated CAGR of XX% from 2017 to 2025 owing to increasing product consumption in countries such as Japan and India.
North America emerged as a prominent consumer due to growing awareness about health benefits associated with EVCO coupled with increased usage by food processing units such as FrieslandCampina Netherlands BV., Kelloggs Co., Tyson Foods Inc., Cargill Inc. and others for manufacturing foods like frozen yogurt, ice cream, snacks etc.). Europe accounted for more than 20% share of global revenue in 2016 owing mostly to high demand from cosmetic application segment mainly driven by Germany followed by U.K.
